Only vaccines that Health Canada has approved for use will be administered.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" lang=\"en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/health-canada\/services\/drugs-health-products\/covid19-industry\/drugs-vaccines-treatments\/vaccines.html\">Learn more about the vaccines from Health Canada<\/a><br \/>\n(Note: Health Canada has not updated these pages recently; however, there is useful information for the vaccines that were used last year).<\/p>\n<h3>Nuvaxovid (formerly Novavax) COVID-19 vaccine<\/h3>\n<p>The Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine is expected to be available in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland and Labrador. Other provinces and territories are looking into purchasing vaccine doses, including: Yukon and Prince Edward Island.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 20px;vertical-align: middle\">\u2709\ufe0f<\/span>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/stillcoviding.ca\/en\/take-action\/nuvaxovid\/\">Send letters to health ministers<\/a> to voice your support for access to the Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine in 2026\/2027. Use our online tool to send emails.<\/p>\n<p><small>Date modified: <time datetime=\"2026-10-01\">2026-10-01<\/time><\/small><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2 id=\"alberta\">Alberta<\/h2>\n<p>Starting October&nbsp;19, 2026, COVID-19 vaccines will be available free of charge to Albertans. The Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty, Moderna Spikevax, and Sanofi Nuvaxovid vaccines will be available. People 12&nbsp;years and older who do not qualify for the publicly funded vaccines can purchase the vaccine at pharmacies.<\/p>\n<p>Children 6&nbsp;months and up to 11&nbsp;years of age who are eligible can receive vaccines free of charge through Primary Care Alberta public health clinics. Children who do not meet eligibility criteria can access the vaccine with a fee of $100 per dose or series.<\/p>\n<h3>Nuvaxovid (formerly Novavax) vaccine<\/h3>\n<p>The Nuvaxovid COVID-19 vaccine will be available until it expires in December 2026. Publicly funded Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna Spikevax COVID-19 vaccines will be available at pharmacies.<\/p>\n<p>A limited supply of Nuvaxovid vaccine doses will be available for people who cannot receive an mRNA vaccine due to an allergy or medical condition. Dates for the vaccination clinics have not been announced yet.<\/p>\n<p>The Nunavut Immunization Manual (August 2026) lists only one COVID-19 vaccine: Moderna Spikevax. It does not mention the Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty or Sanofi Nuvaxovid vaccines.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"colour-dark-green fw-bold\">[Nunavut]<\/span>&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" lang=\"en\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.nu.ca\/en\/search?search_api_fulltext=covid-19+vaccination\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Health: COVID-19 vaccination clinics<\/a><\/p>\n<p><small>Date modified: <time datetime=\"2026-10-02\">2026-10-02<\/time><\/small><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2 id=\"ontario\">Ontario<\/h2>\n<p>In 2026-2027: Ontario will offer two mRNA COVID-19 vaccines, Moderna Spikevax and Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty, and one protein-based COVID-19 vaccine, Sanofi Nuvaxovid (formerly Novavax). The Nuvaxovid vaccine could be a good option for people who are allergic to polyethylene glycol (PEG), an ingredient in the mRNA vaccines; and some people have fewer side effects.<\/p>\n<h3>Publicly funded vaccines in Ontario<\/h3>\n<p>Starting at the end of September\/early October: COVID-19 vaccines will be available for free, for people who live, work, or go to school in Ontario.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>People who belong to high-risk or priority populations may receive COVID-19 vaccine dose(s), starting the week of September&nbsp;28, 2026.<\/li>\n<li>General public: people who do not belong to high-risk or priority populations may receive COVID-19 vaccine dose(s), starting on October&nbsp;26, 2026.<\/li>\n<li>Initially, only the Moderna Spikevax vaccine will be available via the publicly funded program. Starting the week of October&nbsp;26, 2026, pharmacies may order Sanofi Nuvaxovid and Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty vaccine doses. We can expect these publicly funded doses to be available starting in November 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Purchasing Nuvaxovid vaccine doses in Ontario<\/h3>\n<p>The Nuvaxovid COVID vaccine is available for private purchase in Ontario now ($150&ndash;$175 per dose), at select pharmacies that have placed orders directly with Sanofi. That could be an option if you do not live, work, or study in Ontario. It could also be an option if you need a Nuvaxovid vaccine dose soon, before the publicly funded doses are available. For example: you may have a medical appointment, and you want to have an extra layer of protection.<\/p>\n<p>Sanofi provides doses in boxes of ten &mdash; so it would be helpful to sign up ahead of time. Some community activists are organizing sign up lists. On September&nbsp;30 and October&nbsp;1, twenty people received doses at a pharmacy in Ottawa.
