COVID-19 is one of the causes put forward by Statistics Canada to explain the phenomenon.<\/p>\n<p>This trend is the same across the country. Life expectancy decreased by 0.3 years between 2021 and 2022. This is the third consecutive decline, still slightly larger than last year.<\/p>\n<p>Newfoundland and Labrador has the shortest lifespan in the country, with the exception of the territories.
