{"id":5343,"date":"2024-04-12T15:53:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-12T19:53:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stillcoviding.ca\/en\/?p=5343"},"modified":"2024-04-25T00:08:48","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T04:08:48","slug":"feds-launch-indoor-air-quality-research-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stillcoviding.ca\/en\/news\/feds-launch-indoor-air-quality-research-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Feds launch indoor air quality research program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health (ARPA-H) this week <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arpa-h.gov\/news-and-events\/arpa-h-launches-breathe-monitor-and-improve-indoor-air-quality\" lang=\"en\" rel=\"noopener\">announced<\/a> the launch of the Building Resilient Environments for Air and Total Health (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/arpa-h.gov\/research-and-funding\/programs\/breathe\" lang=\"en\" rel=\"noopener\">BREATHE<\/a>) program, which is a platform with a goal of improving indoor air quality across the country. <\/p>\n<p>ARPA-H is a funding agency that supports research that could result in biomedical and health breakthroughs. The Biden administration proposed ARPA-H\u2019s creation, and its establishment within the Department of Health and Human Services was approved by Congress and signed into law in March 2022.<\/p>\n<p>The agency said the BREATHE program focuses on enabling the next generation of \u201csmart buildings\u201d that have integrated systems that continually assess, measure, and report indoor air quality and make real-time interventions such as extra ventilation or disinfection to reduce airborne threats to human health.<\/p>\n<hr>\n<p><i class=\"fa fa-camera\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>&nbsp;Image description: <abbr title=\"Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning\">HVAC<\/abbr> system in a library.
