{"id":5512,"date":"2024-04-24T19:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-24T23:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/stillcoviding.ca\/en\/?p=5512"},"modified":"2024-04-25T03:02:41","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T07:02:41","slug":"confirmed-case-of-measles-in-edmonton-ahs-warns-of-public-exposure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stillcoviding.ca\/en\/news\/confirmed-case-of-measles-in-edmonton-ahs-warns-of-public-exposure\/","title":{"rendered":"Confirmed case of measles in Edmonton, AHS warns of public exposure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Alberta Health Services is warning the public that an individual with lab-confirmed measles has been in public settings in Edmonton while infectious.<\/p>\n<p>In a Wednesday news release, officials sent out a list of locations and times of when the infected person was out in public and said residents who were at any of the locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed to measles:<\/p>\n<h2>April&nbsp;16<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exposure location: Edmonton International Airport, international arrivals and baggage claim area<\/li>\n<li>Exposure time period: 3:20&nbsp;p.m. to 6:00&nbsp;p.m. MST.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>April&nbsp;20<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exposure location: Stollery Children\u2019s Hospital Emergency Department<\/li>\n<li>Exposure time period: 5&nbsp;a.m. to 3&nbsp;p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>April&nbsp;22<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exposure location: 66th Medical Clinic (13635 66&nbsp;St NW Edmonton)<\/li>\n<li>Exposure time period: 12:15&nbsp;p.m. to 3:30&nbsp;p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Exposure location: Pharmacy&nbsp;66 (13637 66&nbsp;St NW Edmonton)<\/li>\n<li>Exposure time period: 12:15&nbsp;p.m. to 3:30&nbsp;p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>April&nbsp;23<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Exposure location: Stollery Children\u2019s Hospital Emergency Department<\/li>\n<li>Exposure time period: 4:40&nbsp;a.m. to 9:33&nbsp;a.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u201cAnyone who attended these locations at these times who was born in or after 1970 and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine, is at risk for developing measles,\u201d AHS said in the release. \u201cExposed people born in or after 1970 who have received fewer than two doses of measles-containing vaccine, who are pregnant, under one year of age, or have a weakened immune system are at greatest risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those who may have been exposed are \u201cstrongly encouraged\u201d to review their immunization records and monitor themselves for symptoms of measles and are asked to stay home.
