\u201cThe problem now is that we have an accumulation of complex cases. It\u2019s difficult to get new cases into treatment because we can\u2019t finish with some patients,\u201d says Simon D\u00e9cary, Chair of the Long COVID Clinics Steering Committee.<\/p>\n
Around 5% of people who contract COVID will still experience sequelae between three months and one year after infection. And around 1% of the population will have severe functional limitations to the point of needing services, says the physiotherapist.<\/p>\n
In 2022, Qu\u00e9bec deployed a network of 15 long COVID clinics across the province. Some 50 health professionals work full-time there.<\/p>\n
