This is one of the proposals that will be debated during this party meeting in Gatineau, on September 27 and 28.<\/p>\n
Its adoption seems a formality, since it was submitted not only by the political committee, but also by the youth wing and five riding associations.<\/p>\n
While the right to demonstrate is \u201ca pillar of democracy,\u201d \u201ccertain situations raise important issues regarding security and respect for public spaces,\u201d writes the Coalition avenir Qu\u00e9bec (CAQ) in its resolutions.<\/p>\n
Reference is made to \u201cillegal encampments, notably at McGill University,\u201d which have \u201coccupied the public space and harmed many people and institutions.\u201d There is no mention of homeless encampments, although the wording of the proposal suggests that they would also be prohibited.<\/p>\n
