Kennedy Jr. today appointed two obstetricians-gynecologists to the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP). Both appointees have a history of questioning vaccine safety in pregnancy, and one has erroneously claimed COVID-19 vaccines caused miscarriages.<\/p>\n<p>Adam Urato, MD, of UMass Memorial Health, is the first listed appointee to ACIP. In October of 2024, he <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamUrato1\/status\/1845461085106626880\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote on X<\/a>, \u201cCDC &amp; ACOG recommend 4&nbsp;vaccines in pregnancy: Flu, Tdap, RSV, &amp; COVID. My patients often ask: \u2018How do we know that all these vaccines won&#8217;t have adverse effects on my baby &amp; me?\u2019 The answer is: \u2018We don&#8217;t.\u2019 Women&#8217;s vax concerns should be acknowledged &amp; their choices supported.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>All four of the vaccines Urato listed have been proven safe for use in pregnant women.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F.
