Alberta Health Services is warning the public that an individual with lab-confirmed measles has been in public settings in Edmonton while infectious.

In a Wednesday news release, officials sent out a list of locations and times of when the infected person was out in public and said residents who were at any of the locations during the specified dates and times may have been exposed to measles:

April 16

• Exposure location: Edmonton International Airport, international arrivals and baggage claim area
• Exposure time period: 3:20 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. MST.

April 20

• Exposure location: Stollery Children’s Hospital Emergency Department
• Exposure time period: 5 a.m. to 3 p.m.

April 22

• Exposure location: 66th Medical Clinic (13635 66 St NW Edmonton)
• Exposure time period: 12:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
• Exposure location: Pharmacy 66 (13637 66 St NW Edmonton)
• Exposure time period: 12:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

April 23

• Exposure location: Stollery Children’s Hospital Emergency Department
• Exposure time period: 4:40 a.m. to 9:33 a.m.

“Anyone who attended these locations at these times who was born in or after 1970 and has less than two documented doses of measles-containing vaccine, is at risk for developing measles,” AHS said in the release. “Exposed people born in or after 1970 who have received fewer than two doses of measles-containing vaccine, who are pregnant, under one year of age, or have a weakened immune system are at greatest risk.”

Those who may have been exposed are “strongly encouraged” to review their immunization records and monitor themselves for symptoms of measles and are asked to stay home. AHS said those who have been exposed should contact Health Link at 1-877-720-0707.
