The measles epidemic continues in Quebec with 30 confirmed cases now

[Translated from French]

The measles epidemic continues in Quebec. The province has reached 30 cases, according to the most recent figures from Public Health.

The Laurentides region remains the most affected with 27 cases of measles, the others being in the territories of Montreal, Laval and Montérégie.

Vaccination is the best way to protect yourself against this extremely contagious disease. Quebec’s vaccination schedule provides for children to receive the vaccine at 12 and 18 months, but it can be administered free of charge at any age.

The Ministry of Health announced last week that vaccination coverage for elementary and secondary students for the current school year (2024-2025) is around 90%. However, it noted vaccination delays among infants and certain adult populations.
