Μακρά Covid-19: Οι θρόμβοι αίματος μπορεί να ευθύνονται για την εγκεφαλική ομίχλη

Blood clots in the brain or lungs may be responsible for certain symptoms of long COVID, including brain fog and fatigue, according to a new British study.

The research team from Oxford and Leicester universities in Britain identified molecular blood signatures linked to brain fog and fatigue in patients who suffered from long COVID.

The scientists examined blood proteins in more than 1,800 patients who had been hospitalized with coronavirus and found that at the time of infection, those who developed long-term cognitive problems, they were more likely to have elevated levels of a protein called fibrinogen or a protein fragment called D-dimer. According to the researchers, 16% of these patients had problems thinking, concentrating, or remembering for at least six months. Long COVID can also occur after milder coronavirus infections.
